Connected Support by John Deere

John Deere’s Connected Support enables efficient machine management using connectivity hardware and JDPOEM activation. It provides insight into machine data and monitoring. It shares real-time information such as fuel consumption, engine load, and location. Additionally, safety alerts can be sent out. It goes beyond insight, with remote engine monitoring, predictive alerts, and diagnostics. NPS Driven and OEMs can perform diagnostics remotely and deliver software updates, saving valuable time and money. Connected Support offers valuable insights and proactive problem-solving.

Traditional (Reactive) Service

Traditionally, we are accustomed to a reactive service in our industry. For example, if an OEM device detects an engine problem, a series of reactive steps begins. The end user reports the problem, often incompletely, to the fleet manager, who in turn sends a technician. This diagnosis takes days and leads to ordering parts and eventually results in four days of machine downtime

Proactive Service with Connected Support

Proactive service becomes possible with John Deere Connected Support. For example, NPS Driven receives a predictive alert weeks before a fuel rail pressure fault code occurs. NPS then contacts the fleet manager, explains the situation, and if desired, orders the necessary part. During a scheduled downtime, the problem is quickly resolved. This way, we prevent four days of machine downtime, travel expenses, and additional labor costs for the end user.

How to Activate Connected Support?

When ordering the latest engines, the OEM must indicate that Connected Support is desired. Depending on the engine and its application, the necessary telematics equipment is installed in the factory and/or provided with the engine. NPS Driven connects the JDLink kit to the engine. The OEM integrates the engine with the JDLink into the application. The end user activates the system, grants permission for data use, and chooses the dealer for information. John Deere analyzes data and offers support when necessary, focusing on uptime and maintenance intervals without extra costs for the end user. Costs, hardware, and communication are included for engines with factory-installed Connected Support.
